The Goodwill Rescue Urban School of Evangelism and Mission Experience
(U. S. E. M. E.) is a 1-week to 2-month immersion into the urban culture in the Northeast United States. The school is open to anyone aged 13-99 who desires to minister to the "least of these" through a variety of programs designed to aid students and those who directly benefit from ministry.

The week long program includes:

Direct ministry to homeless and children in low-income housing projects
Classroom instruction design to teach evangelism and practical outreach
Opportunity for service projects
Sightseeing opportunities in New York City

The cost, $175 per person, per week includes 2 meals a day, classroom materials, daily mission work opportunities and material for evangelism. Increasing the number of individuals participating can reduce the cost per person.

Our Four Fold Ministry Concept

Classroom Instruction
All Urban School of Evangelism and Mission Experience students will have an opportunity to understand the various ideologies related to ministry to the poor. These include: theology of the poor, theology of justice, theology of the city, overview of ministry to substance abusers, urban evangelism and cross-cultural counseling.

Mission Service
Regular opportunities for service will be provided around the ministry of Goodwill Rescue Mission. Goodwill offers feeding programs, chapel services, thrift store service and facility maintenance.

Social Concern
Many people in the Newark area do not avail themselves of the services that we provide. As a result, we will take our services to them through street feeding programs and distribution of kits containing toiletries and other important items.

Urban Evangelism
Everyone needs to hear about how important the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is to our every day lives. Our Urban Evangelism program is designed to lovingly share the Gospel with those who really need to hear Good News!
